Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni is ready to join Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur during this summer’s transfer window according to journalist Alasdair Gold. Gold is a Tottenham Hotspur correspondent for Football London. He talked about Bastoni while fielding a question and answer session for Football London recently.
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Bastoni this summer, but it was reported that the Italian international might need convincing to swap Inter Milan for North London. However, the situation has changed with the aforementioned Gold stating that Bastoni is now open to a Spurs move though his preference is to stay in Italian football.
Conte wants to strengthen the left side of his defence and Bastoni is said to be at the top of his list of left-sided defenders. Bastoni became a regular in the Inter Milan team under Conte as they won the Italian Serie A title together during the 2020/21 season. The 23-year-old is also a regular for Roberto Mancini in the Italian national team. He was part of the 26-man Italy squad that won the Euro 2020 tournament by beating England in the final. The Italians beat England on penalties at the iconic Wembley Stadium to win their second Euro title.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Conte could raid Inter Milan once again for Bastoni after the free transfer signing of Ivan Perisic earlier this week. The transfer of Croatian international Perisic was announced by the North London club on Tuesday and the player is expected to link up with his new team on July 1 after the expiration of his Inter Milan contract. Perisic opted to leave Inter Milan for Spurs despite the fact that he was offered a new deal by the Coppa Italia winners. He has signed a two-year contract with Tottenham Hotspur and can’t wait to play for the club as revealed in his latest interview.
