SPURS TRIO OUT OF BRENTFORD CLASH

Three Tottenham Hotspur players will miss the Carabao Cup semi-final tie with Brentford at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday night. The two London teams will fight it out for the right to secure a spot in the Carabao Cup final in April. Tottenham Hotspur are heavy favourites to book a place in that final ahead of their London rivals Brentford but that has not stopped manager Jose Mourinho from labelling the game as his biggest since his appointment over a year ago. The Spurs boss said this during his pre-match press conference ahead of the semi-final clash. Tottenham Hotspur are yet to win any form of major trophy in almost 13 years and Jose Mourinho will be determined to put an end to that poor run. Spurs last won any form of major trophy when they defeated London rivals Chelsea to win the League Cup also known as the Carabao Cup in 2008.

Ahead of the Carabao Cup last four tie with Championship outfit Brentford at their new stadium, Tottenham Hotspur will be without the services of three players through suspension and injuries. Tottenham Hotspur right-back Matt Doherty was sent off at the weekend during the final minutes of the Premier League home clash with Leeds United for two yellow cards and he would be suspended for the Brentford game, while the duo of Gareth Bale and Giovanni Lo Celso will sit out the Brentford match because of respective injuries.

Brentford qualified for the first major semi-final in their history by beating Newcastle United at home in the last round and they would be hoping for more of the same when they face North London club Tottenham Hotspur away from home in the last four in what’s the biggest game in the history of the club. Tottenham Hotspur and Brentford will contest the first semi-final tie in London on Tuesday night, while the second semi-final tie would be between Manchester United and visitors Manchester City on Wednesday night.
